BearScots is an inclusive and welcoming social group serving the bear community of Scotland and those who love them.
The bear community originally emerged from a need for safe spaces for larger hairier men who didn’t fit the rigid stereotypes of the traditional gay scene. The term “BEAR” describes a wide spectrum from across our community, from older daddy bears to young cubs, lean chasers to proud chubs, trans men, muscle bulls, curious admirers, and everyone in between.
BearScots stands with the whole LGBTQI+ community. We are anti-racist and anti-discrimination in all forms, and we work hard to ensure Bearscots and our events are a safe space for people of all colour, faith and ability.
The bear community is often a natural home to many trans men, and BearScots proudly welcome all our trans, non-binary, and gender fluid family. It’s important to us that bears, cubs, and admirers of any gender identity feel both safe and welcomed in our community. Body positivity and self-expression are at the heart of what we do and who we are, we celebrate all shapes, sizes, ages, and abilities.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination, harassment, and bullying. Everyone attending our events should feel safe and be treated with dignity and respect. BearScots exists to continue to provide safe space for the whole spectrum of the bear community to be who we truly are!
