Welcome from the BearScots President
A warm bearish welcome to BearScots 2008 from myself and the new committee. At the AGM in December nine people volunteered themselves to be on the new expanded committee for the year ahead - and what a Team we have. Here's a quick run-down of the who is who:
- President - Ian
- Secretary - Martyn
- Tresurer - Simon
- Membership Secretary - Max
- Webmasters - Mike and Lee
- Events Organisers - Gary, Murray and Mike
A usual in 2008 we will be hosting a monthly club night, on the first Saturday at the Claremont Bar and on the second Saturday of the month it's the 'Bears in the Basement' informal meet-up at the New Town Bar.
Our website is currently being updated by our able pair of Webmasters, to be fully functional on 1st February - with new features such as online membership managament, member profiles, member messaging and of course an up-to-date Events Calendar. We'll also have photos of the committee members - should you want to ask any of us for info at any time when we're out and about.
Membership renewals are due Feb 1st - and we will be emailing both existing members and those on the mailing list as a gentle reminder that subs are due. The committee are working hard this month to arrange a great membership package for 2008 - more details in the renewal email.
Events-wise in 2008, we're currently planning:
- "Bears in the Hills" in mid April - the Annual trip up into the Highlands for a long weekend of socialising, sight-seeing and fun
- Summer "Bears' BBQ" in early August - at South Queensferry
- "BearFest 2008" over the weekend of Oct 3/4/5 - the Annual Big Event in Edinburgh
So lots to look forward to. If you've got any ideas or questions email me at president@bearscot.org.uk or nag me at the pub.
So here's to a great 2008.
Ian
BearScots President
